Weekend in Old Monmouth at Christ Church
On May 4 and 5, more than 100 people (and one dog) visited Christ Church and its graveyard as part of the Monmouth County Historical Commission’s annual celebration of Weekend in Old Monmouth.
Highlights shown in the below photos included a guided tour of our 300-year-old graveyard conducted by Ryan Radice (the dog was on the tour).
Visitors also perused our curated collection of historical artifacts and depictions in art and photography of the exterior and interior of our 250-year-old church building.
Fifteen parishioners served as docents, including several in period garb.
Next up on our double anniversary celebration: the appearance of our Dead Actors Guild society on May 18 starting at 10:00 AM, in which notable personages buried in our graveyard will tell their stories, dressed for the occasion.
