{"id":5701,"date":"2021-09-09T16:01:06","date_gmt":"2021-09-09T20:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christchurchshrewsbury.org\/?p=5701"},"modified":"2023-11-06T12:00:34","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T17:00:34","slug":"christ-church-choir-returns-under-new-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christchurchshrewsbury.org\/?p=5701","title":{"rendered":"Christ Church Choir Returns Under New Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a long hiatus due to the pandemic, St. Gregory&#8217;s adult choir of Christ Church returns to in-person singing at the 10:00 am service on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, under the leadership<br \/>\nof our new Music Director, the talented and personable\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/christchurchshrewsbury.org\/?page_id=6\">Iris Chen<\/a>. The choir will be masked,<br \/>\nas are all worshipers at our services, in the interests of safety.<\/p>\n<p>The first regular rehearsal of the choir was to be held on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 pm in the<br \/>\nParish House; subsequent rehearsals will normally take place on Thursdays at 7:30.<\/p>\n<p>Iris welcomes new members&#8211;even those who haven&#8217;t sung lately&#8211;to the choir. In addition,<br \/>\nif you play a musical instrument, Iris would welcome your participation as well. You can<br \/>\nreach her through her <a href=\"mailto: musicdirector@christchurchshrewsbury.org\">church email account\u00a0<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Iris herself is accomplished on multiple instruments, as she has already exhibited during<br \/>\nher first month at Christ Church. On Sept. 5 at the 9:00 service, she, her husband Patrick,<br \/>\nand her two young daughters formed a quartet of flute, classical guitars, and recorder which played the lovely English Renaissance\u00a0&#8220;Lesson for Two Lutes,&#8221; enhancing the worship experience for the\u00a0congregants during Offertory.<br \/>\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\"
