Christ Church: (krist'church) n. [L. Christus ME. chirche, kirke]: parish in the Borough of Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
A community committed to exploring the reality of God in today's world.
Both protestant and catholic, Christ Church is a part of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion.
We are a diverse and changing congregation that welcomes all who pass through our doors.
We continually seek new ways to broaden our ministry, to renew our faith, and to serve Christ in all persons.
Together we strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.
Christ Church Parish was founded on
Christmas Day in 1702. The cornerstone was laid in 1769 and the church
is on the National and State Registers of Historic Places and is part
of the Four Corners Historic District. The Rectory, constructed in
1824, is part of the Shrewsbury Historic District as well. Christ
Church is an active, modern congregation housed within treasured
buildings and surrounded by a beautiful historic graveyard. Each year
we welcome many to participate in our history through tours, events,
weddings, and genealogical and historical research.
