BISHOP STOKES VISITS
On June 30th Bishop William (Chip) Stokes visited Christ Church to celebrate our dual anniversaries of the graveyard (300) and the church building (250). The Bishop was the celebrant at our morning service and also confirmed and received several members into their life in Christ. The service was enhanced by the performance of several anthems by Madregalia, our a cappella artists in residence. The Bishop also had a wonderful segment of his sermon interacting with the children. Before the service the Bishop toured the graveyard and afterwards joined the parish for a reception. He was given a book by the parish children as well as a mid-19th century biography of Bishop John Croes, the first Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey, whose son served as Rector here from 1809-1824. A wonderful gallery of images of Christ Church was provided by Jamie Green.
