St. Nicholas Returns to Christ Church

St Nicholas’ Visit

On Dec. 4th at the 10:00 service, Christ Church received a visit from the original St. Nicholas. He welcomed the children of the Parish to come to the front of the sanctuary to listen to his life story. He spoke of where he came from (Myra in Asia Minor in present-day Turkey) and how he dedicated himself to helping people and to serving God. He spoke of his key role in writing what we now call the Nicene Creed. He told of a poor family that he helped by secretly tossing gold coins through a window into the family’s house. He then gave the children their own gold (chocolate) coins: one for themselves and one to give away to make someone else’s day a little brighter!
